AXMEDIS tools are available for both, to make research activities and to realize business and commercial solutions. In both cases you need to be affiliated. For research groups the affiliation is free of charge. For business and commercial purposes the affiliation costs 5000 Euro per year. The affiliation can be paid only by signing an official Affiliation Agreement with an Active Core Partner of AXMEDIS. Does AXMEDIS get everybody sign into the consortium or do you license?

Answer:

The affiliation to AXMEDIS is open to all. With the affiliation a company or an institution is not becoming part of the consortium is only accessing to the AXMEDIS Framework. It is also possible to use AXMEDIS Tools without being affiliated. This means that some Affiliated Partner of AXMEDIS has sold an installation of AXMEDIS to a third party. This is also possible. In general we prefer to see also these third partiers Affiliated as well, but the business relationships among them remain private among them. How do you see all these technologies moving into very broad mass market?

It could be very good to integrate our own metadata into AXMEDIS objects and use them in our applications and may be in yours. Should we come to AXMEDIS architecture, do you provide SDK or Web Services or some kinds of integration?

Answer:

AXMEDIS model is fully open. You can create your AXMEDIS objects with your metadata inside without any modification to the AXMEDIS model. It could be enough to insert an XML file or an RDF with your metadata inside. For their visualization and usage on the player you can customize the object to navigate in your metadata and show them in SMIL or HTML page with some style, etc.

To do that you do not need to modify the AXMEDIS applications or code. If you would like to have a deeper integration, for example, having also your metadata addressed into the AXMEDIS database more work is needed, but not much. That work can be done on the source code being an Affiliated partner, our you can commit that work to AXMEDIS.

What about DDEX standard with AXMEDIS architecture? It could be very good to integrate our own metadata and/or, DDEX, etc.

Answer:

Answer:

AXMEDIS DRM and framework allows to realize a large range of solutions that can satisfy all kind of requirements and constraints of the different countries lows.

When tracing content rights, how far is the user identity protected?

Users don’t like content tracing

Answer:

In AXMEDIS, the tracking of content rights is performed by a Server that does not collect the identity of the final users, only their numeric ID so that the Users’ identify is absolutely protected. The Distributor that make the registration is the only one that may associate the User Numeric ID with the user information such as name, surname, location, account, sex, age, etc.

A good tracking can be a value for the user, to allow them paying only what they do for example. In addition, a good tracking can be a way to enable a user to exploits its rights when he/she change terminal, device, and location. A good tracking can be also used for tuning the service, providing offers, providing play lists, preferred content, etc.

Is AXMEDIS DRM supported already?

Answer:

YES, AXMEDIS DRM is working and functional. In addition, AXMEDIS supports also OMA. We have also a very simple version of integration with MS windows DRM.

Can you in the same AXMEDIS AXCP Javascript broadcast to all channels ?

Answer:

Sure, AXMEDIS can do that and much more on the same script, can also post content in DB, sent email, produce licenses, etc.
